Margaret, English (UK) voice

Margaret, two British voices blended for documentary scripts and chapter introductions

Margaret is a house recipe fixed as one voice: two parts Imogen, our top-graded British voice, to one part Edmund, the low British male of our notes. Our note gives her documentary scripts and chapter introductions. She is a finished blend and takes no second voice; what you can adjust is the recipe, from its ingredients.

Hear it

Three samples, three registers

  1. A documentary-style line; listen for Imogen's pace with Edmund's low floor underneath.
  2. Listen for how a documentary blend handles urgency.
  3. Listen for whether the blend suits a chapter opening.

On the record

How Margaret is put together

Imogen supplies two thirds and the pronunciation: a B- on the published list with 10 to 100 hours of training audio, and a note that says steady pace for courseware. Edmund supplies one third: a C, with a note that says low.

The published list has no entry for a blend, so Margaret carries no grade. We kept the recipe because we wanted a British documentary read with more floor than Imogen alone.

Length the engine likes. The published guidance puts the sweet spot at roughly 100 to 200 tokens, a few sentences; very short lines are the weak spot and very long ones can rush.

Blends

Two parts Imogen, one part Edmund

Margaret is fixed at two parts to one. To change the balance, lead with Imogen in the generator and set Edmund's share on the slider; 30 percent is the nearest setting.

Imogen, English (UK) voice
ImogenEnglish (UK)

Two parts Imogen

The larger share sets the British pronunciation and pace. Imogen grades B- with tens of hours of audio; our note says steady pace for courseware.

2 parts

Edmund, English (UK) voice
EdmundEnglish (UK)

One part Edmund

The smaller share lends the low timbre. Edmund grades C; our note calls him a low British male for documentary voiceover.

1 part

Margaret is a finished house blend and cannot take a second voice. Start from one of the single voices instead.

Every blend works the same way: the first voice sets the pronunciation and pacing, the second voice lends only its timbre, and you choose the ratio between 10 and 90 percent. See the three steps on the voice library page

FAQ

Questions about Margaret

  • Is Margaret one voice or two?

Two, fixed as one: two parts Imogen, one part Edmund. Choose her like any single voice and the recipe is applied.

  • Can I make Margaret deeper?

Not directly; she is a finished blend. Lead with Imogen in the generator and raise Edmund's share above 30 percent in the advanced settings.

  • Does Margaret have a grade?

No. The published list grades single voices. Her ingredients grade B- and C; the blend is our recipe.

  • Does Margaret stay British in the output?

Yes. Imogen, the primary, sets the pronunciation, and both ingredients are British English voices.
